Make a flat-lay AI ad with one controlled movement

A flat-lay video uses a top-down view of a product arrangement. Its strength is visual clarity: the viewer sees the object and its relationship to nearby props without a complex room. Its weakness is that everything sits in one plane, so too many objects or simultaneous movements quickly become confusing.

Give the arrangement a single subject

Hypothetical example: a photographed green notebook lies closed on a plain desk, with a pen to its right. The notebook is the product; the pen is a prop. Page count, paper weight and dimensions are unknown. The ad shows the cover and one opening action, without claiming a stationery bundle or ink performance.

Use empty space to separate the notebook from the pen. Avoid scattering clips, cards, cups and leaves across the frame merely to make it look styled. Each added prop needs a fixed position and may imply an included accessory.

Choose object movement or camera movement

A fixed overhead camera with one hand opening the notebook gives the viewer a stable reference. A camera rotating while the cover opens makes it harder to check corners, binding and support. If you prefer a small camera move, keep the product stationary instead. One controlled source of motion is enough for a short first ad.

Hypothetical flat-lay outline:
Camera fixed directly above the photographed arrangement.
Notebook centred, pen separated at frame right.
One hand enters from bottom and opens the cover once.
Other props do not slide, rotate or change size.
End with notebook open to a supplied blank-page view.
No generated handwriting or unverified paper claims.

The overhead angle should remain consistent. A top-down shot that gradually reveals the side of the table has changed perspective. Name that change deliberately if wanted; otherwise keep it out of the plan.

Prepare the unseen state

An exterior notebook photo does not establish the interior. Obtain the actual open-page view before asking for the cover movement, or keep the notebook closed. The same rule applies to boxes, cases and lids. Unknown views should stay unknown, not become decorative inventions.

Review the flatness and support

Pause during the hand movement. Check that the notebook remains supported, the pen stays still and the binding does not change side. Look for a product sliding after the hand releases it or a shadow separating from its base. The tabletop guide helps diagnose contact errors.

For this example, stationery-ad planning covers readable-text limitations. Use a silent storyboard check to decide whether the arrangement and action communicate the product without needing speech to explain what viewers are looking at.
