Build a silent product-ad storyboard
A silent ad needs the picture to carry the information. Remove the imagined voiceover while planning and ask what the viewer can actually infer. If the meaning disappears, the sequence needs a clearer action or a simpler message.
Choose a visible change
This hypothetical example uses a photographed desk tray with three shallow compartments. The message is placement: one key has a visible place to rest. The sequence does not claim that the tray prevents lost keys or makes someone more productive.
| Stage | Starting state | Action and finish | What the viewer learns |
|---|---|---|---|
| Establish | Tray empty on a quiet surface | Brief stable view with compartments visible | Shape and arrangement |
| Place | Hand holds one key above a compartment | Key is set down once; hand leaves | A plausible use of that compartment |
| Hold | Key resting in the tray | Camera holds on the same arrangement | Finished placement |
Give the key and hand enough space to move without obscuring every compartment. The finish should look like the consequence of the preceding action, not a cut to a newly arranged tray.
Use composition to guide attention
Begin with the tray large enough to recognize at the intended viewing size. Keep the background quiet. A decorative vase crossing the tray's edge or a sleeve covering the contact point can make a simple action difficult to read.
Camera movement is optional. A fixed shallow overhead view may explain the placement better than a moving close-up. If you do move the camera, avoid simultaneously changing the tray angle and the key position; the viewer then has several changes to track.
Check without words
- Watch the outline or rough sequence with no speech.
- Ask what happened, using only visible evidence.
- Check whether the important object is recognizable before it moves.
- Check whether the hand's exit reveals the result.
- Hold the finish long enough to inspect the tray and key together.
This check is a planning exercise, not audience research. If a colleague cannot explain the action, find the hidden state rather than add a paragraph of captions.
Generate a deliberately speech-free version
In fairytale, leave Exact spoken lines blank and describe the silent visual sequence in the brief. Uploaded product and scene photos enter the project immediately, with missing sheets prepared as part of the paid Generate request when needed. A silent clip still costs credits.
Do not request captions merely to fill an empty speech track. Captions hear the finished video's audio on explicit request; a video without planned speech may produce mistaken words over music. Review the silent result for movement and product identity.
Use format comparison to decide whether the change needs video, opening-shot planning for legibility and detail framing when the compartment is small.
